Billy Ray Baker, age 74, of Smithville passed away Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at his residence.

 He was born November 30, 1946 to his parents the late Walter Robert and Virginia Louise Tarr Baker. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by siblings, Georgia May Barber, H. B. Baker, Betty Jo Hancock, Bonnie Ruth Howell, Mary Helen Murphy, Shirley Ann Gibbs and Robert Baker, Jr.

 He worked as a carpenter.

 He is survived by two brothers, Glenn (Billie Ann ) Baker of Liberty, Jimmy (Fay) Baker of Smithville; two sisters, Dorothy Nell Leech of McMinnville, and Virginia Sue Mitchell of Cookeville; daughter, Shelia Herron of Smithville; girlfriend, Nicole Gilley of Smithville; three grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.

 Mr. Baker's family has honored his request to be cremated.  No services are planned.

 DeKalb Funeral Chapel, Smithville, was in charge of arrangements.
