Funeral services for B.L. Cantrell, 86, of Smithville were held March 15 at the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Mike Clayborn officiated with burial following at DeKalb Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Cantrell passed away March 13 at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was a retired maintenance mechanic from the Corps of Engineers and a member of the VFW 7629 and Amvets Post 101.
He was preceded in death by his wife Eva Dean Cantrell; parents Ben and Sarah Young Cantrell; a son Kevin Cantrell; and a brother Ben Cantrell Jr.
Survivors include his son Steve Cantrell of Smithville; a granddaughter Leslie and Joey Bounds; a great-grandson Tyler Bounds, all of Virginia; two sisters Wilma Young of Murfreesboro and Lorene Jenkins of Smithville; and a brother, C.Y. and Ruth Cantrell of Smithville.
Pallbearers included Derick Young, Gary Prater, Roger Turner, Don Merriman, Richard Schilt and Shane Turner.
Love-Cantrell Funeral Home, Smithville,  was in charge of the arrangements.
