Bryan Jay “B.J.” Davis, 31, of Carthage and a native of Smithville, passed away from this life to the next on March 25 after a brief illness in Smithville.
He was a graduate of DeKalb County High School in 1999 and a graduate of Tennessee Technological University in 2004.
B.J. was an educator at Smith County Middle School and the girls and boys basketball coach. He was also a member of Elizabeth Chapel Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Clayton and Hazel Ray and paternal grandfather, Carl Davis.
BJ is survived by his parents, Carl Douglas and Sandra Gail Ray Davis of Smithville; two brothers, Jacob (Dana) Davis and Jared (Kelli) Davis, all of Smithville; two nieces, Kendal and Kloe Davis of Smithville; paternal grandmother, Willene Davis of Smithville; the love of his life, Jennifer Bamford and her daughter, Reese Bamford; aunts and uncles, Betty Davis, Edgar Davis and Kenneth (Lisa) Ray; and a host of family and friends.
Funeral services were conducted March 29 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Bill Robertson officiating and interment following in DeKalb Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers included Mike Braswell, Johnny Ray, Patrick Ray, Ronnie Scudder, Josh Miller, Dusty Whitaker and Brian Roberts.
The faculty and staff of Smith County Middle School served as honorary pallbearers.
