Funeral services for Bud Hale, 81, of Smithville, were held June 15 at the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Leonard Herman and Bro. Virgil Hibdon Jr. officiated with burial following in DeKalb Cemetery.   
Mr. Hale passed away June 13 at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was a retired mechanic with the DeKalb County School Bus Garage and of the Baptist faith.   
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Mable Lawerence Hale; a brother, Jr. Hale; and sister, Willa Dean Hale.
Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Oleda Hale; a daughter, Starr and husband, Larry “Horse” Ferrell, all of Smithville; two grandchildren, Jarrod Dodd of Smithville and Sherranna Dodd and husband, Bobby, Walker of Gallatin; two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Ava Walker of Gallatin; a sister, Dean and husband, Nelson, Young of Smithville; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Serving as pallbearers were David Cantrell, Jerry Tramel, Nelson and Lanny Sandlin, Bobby “Rocky” Walker, Jarrod and Michael Dodd and Horse Ferrell.
Love-Cantrell Funeral Home, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements.
