Funeral services for Doyce Gene Cantrell, 81, of Smithville were held Jan. 2 at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial was in DeKalb Memorial Gardens.

 

He passed away Dec. 29 at DeKalb Community Hospital.

 

He was a Baptist, retired from the DeKalb County Landfill.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Lee and Carrie Leona Young Cantrell; two children, Tammy Young and David Cantrell; four sisters, Nell Fly, Janice Martin, Nancy Humphreys, and Carmine Poss; six brothers, Jay, Joe, Morgan, Thaniel, Jewel, and Prentice Cantrell.

 

He is survived by two children, Michael Cantrell of New Mexico and Rosanna (Jim) McCurry of Michigan; seven grandchildren, Joshua (Sarah) McCurry of Michigan, Jessica Jones of Murfreesboro, John Cantrell of Lebanon, Eric Hill of Woodbury, Tammy Lowhorn of Clark Range and Brent Arnold of Smithville; one great-grandchild, Alice Studenka of Michigan; two sisters, Joan Harelson of Lebanon, and Hilda (Floyd) Corley of Tullahoma; four brothers, John (Nell) Cantrell of McMinnville, Elmus (Gladys) Cantrell, Lewis (Wanda) Cantrell and McClure (Pam) Cantrell all of Smithville; two sisters-in-law, Frances Cantrell of Gallatin, and Wilam Cantrell of Smithville; two brothers-in-law, Joe Fly of Hendersonville and Jimmy Martin of Smithville.

 

Pallbearers included Phillip Young, Eric Hill, Danny Goff, Justin Hill, Jim and Josh McCurry.

 

Love-Cantrell Funeral Home, Smithville was in charge of the arrangements
