Funeral services for Captain John “Lucky” Carpenter, 90, of Smithville were held Jan. 27 at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Michael Carpenter and Bro. Kenneth Clayton officiated, with burial following at Salem Cemetery.
He passed away Jan. 24 at the VA Hospital in Murfreesboro.
He was a WWII Navy Veteran, Mason and Shriner, and a retired ship captain and was affliated with Salem Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pearl and Nellie Ray Gambrell; son, Johnny Carpenter; half brother, David Carpenter.
He is survived by his wife Karen Carpenter of Smithville; four sons, Craig Carpenter of Smithville, Michael Carpenter of Liberty, John rex Carpenter of Texas, Kirk Sean Carpenter of Virginia; three daughters, Melody Jaquinta, and Karen Sue Carpenter both of Florida, Shauna Noel Johnson of Manchester; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; haldf sister, Carla Jackson of Texas.
Pallbearers included; Kirk, Craig, Michael and Mathew Carpenter, Bill Green and Harvey Cantrell.
Love-Cantrell Funeral Home, Smithville, was in charge of arrangements.
