Charles Lovis Parsley, 75, of Smithville died Thursday at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital.

 

He was a veteran and a member of the American legion. Parsley was a huge fan of DeKalb County sports and was honored by being given the award for the Most Dedicated Sports Fan of the Year in 2014. He was a bridge builder for Sane Construction Company.

 

The funeral was held Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home.

 

The family has chosen cremation.

 

Parsley was preceded in death by his parents, Travis Martin and Emma Hatton Bond Parsley; three brothers, Travis, Maxie, and Glynn Parsley; and a sister, Chloa Cripps. Survivors include two sons, Charles William Hauschild of Illinois, Dolan and his wife Lori Parsley of Smithville. Three grandchildren, Shelby Hauschild of Illinois, Samantha Bruce of Florida, and Megan Daniel of Tennessee. One great grandchild, Shawn Bruce of Florida and two sisters, Geraldine Lassiter of Indiana and Linda Cantrell of Smithville.

 

The family asks that donations please be made to Love-Cantrell Funeral Home to help with expenses.
