Charles Reed Crook, 86, of Alexandria died Friday at NHC Healthcare Center. He was a DeKalb County native and a member of the New Hope Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willy Crook and Ida Bell Sandlin; his wife of 68 years, Taye Crook; a son, Billy Wayne Crook; his brother, Roy Lee Crook; and his sister, Betty Jean Spencer.
He is survived by his children, Mary Lou and husband Tom Baumann of Smithville, Judy Ann Crook of Alexandria, Cathy Bayne of Murfreesboro, Dan and Angela Crook of Lebanon, and Brenda and husband Jonathan Hammond of Columbia. Grandchildren, Jason Nixon of Knoxville, Jeff and Sarah Nixon of College Grove, R.D. Bayne of California, Christopher and fiancé Elizabeth of Charlotte, North Carolina, Kayla Crook of Lebanon, Joshua Crook of Hermitage, and Austin Hammond of Columbia. Great grandchildren, William Nixon, Mary Nixon, Jordan Bayne, and Grace Bayne. Brothers, J.T. and wife Joyce Ann Crook of Lebanon, Wayne and wife Sara Crook of Lebanon; and a sister, Joyce Hale of Liberty.
Funeral service was held Monday, December 20, 2021 at the chapel of Anderson Funeral Home. Ronnie Smith and Ricky Scruggs officiated, and burial followed in the Dismal Cemetery.
