Funeral services for Charles Wayne Herndon, 69, of Smithville were held March 8 at chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Chuck Overton officiated, with burial following at DeKalb Memorial Gardens.He passed away March 6 at his residence.He worked for the Labor Unions, and was affliated with the Church of God.He was preceded in death by his parents, Milo and Vada Carter Herndon; one great-granddaughter, Adrianna Murphy; father-in-law, Charlie Young.He is survived by his wife, Brenda Young Herndon; son, Brandon Herndon both of Smithville; five daughters, Tarron and Robert Carter of Dowelltown, Vickie Cobble of McMinnville, Penny and Luther Murphy of Smithville, Sonya Cantrell of McMinnville, and Pamela Curtis of Smithville; eight grandchildren; Zel Carter of Dowelltown, Nacole Cobble, Justin Murphy and Patrick Murphy all of Smithville, Clent Cantrell and Dustin Herndon, both of McMinnville, Stephanie Burgess of Tullahoma and Jennifer Coffee of Dowelltown;13great-grandchildren; brother, Ricky Herndon of Smithville; mother-in-law, Gladys Pinegar Young of Smithville; three brothers-in-law, Larry Wayne (Patricia) Young, Charles (Keisha) Farless Young, and Stevie Young all of Smithville; two sister-in-laws, Carolyn (Matthew) Robinson of Murfreesboro, and Annette (Gary) Sells of Gallatin; several nieces and nephews also survive.
