Charlie Redmon, Jr.

Mr. Charlie Redmon, Jr., age 77, of Franklin passed away Friday, April 28, 2017.

A memorial service will be conducted May 6, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. from Centralhatchee First Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Williams officiating.

The family will accept visitors at the church from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. prior to service.

Mr. Redmon was born January 27, 1940 in Smithville, TN to the late Charley Rhoston Redmon, Sr. and Sarah Irene Adcock Redmon Turner. On May 7, 1966 he married the love of his life, the former Barbara Ann Johnson.

He served in the US Army and was stationed in Germany during the early stages of the Vietnam Conflict. He earned his sharpshooter classification, and in his later years he continued to enjoy target practice at his home.

In 1973 he accepted a position in management with Chef Corporation in Peachtree City, and moved his family to Senoia from Tennessee. The company specialized in making parts for kitchen appliances.

As he neared retirement, he wanted to do some farming, so he purchased land in Heard County and moved to Franklin in 1999. He loved the outdoors, and relished tending his garden each spring.

Charlie and Barbara settled in and made new friends. They joined Centralhatchee First Baptist Church, became active members, and attended every Sunday they could. Charlie assisted Barbara with the church’s food ministry and took food to houses of those who were in need.

His most precious moments were times spent with family and friends camping and fishing. He loved to invite family and friends over for cookouts and fish fries.

He lived his life to the fullest, and never met a stranger. He was someone you could go to for advice on anything. Above all, he was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and had a special place in his heart for his dog, “Baby”.

Survivors include: his loving wife, Barbara Redmon of Franklin; his step-mother, Florence Redmon of Smithville, TN; four daughters: Jamie Michelle Thompson (Jim) of Senoia, Samantha Denise McKinney (Todd) of Franklin, Rebecca Ann Parmer (Mike) of Franklin, and Francine Adel Rouse (Doug) of Senoia; one son, Chadwick Christopher Redmon of Atlanta; nine grandchildren: Joshua Thompson, Bridget Bailey, William Thompson, Brooke McKinney, Gracie James, Alexis Levens, Allie Thompson, Tyler Hagel and Jacob Rouse; eight great-grandchildren: Maddison, Liara, Sophia, Aubree, Barrett, Adaline, Chloe and Taylor; one sister, Peggy Redmon of Smithville, TN; one brother, Danny Ray Turner (Marilyn) of Sparta, TN; and a number of other relatives and friends.
