Cheryl Lynn Phaup Owen, age 65, of Smithville passed away Tuesday night, April 14, 2020 at her residence.  

 She was born September 1, 1954 in Ferndale, Michigan to her parents, the late Kenneth Roy and Doris Jean Porter Phaup.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Danny and William Phaup. 

 Cheryl was of the Baptist Faith and worked in Education in the DeKalb County School System as an Education Assistant and most recently as a Supervisor at LBJ & C Headstart in Smithville. 

 She is survived by her husband of 45 years, James Owen of Smithville; three children, James Lynn (Jennifer) Owen, Jessica Renee Owen and Ashley Nicole Owen all of Smithville; grandchildren, Christian James Owen, Haylea Elizabeth Owen, Colton Ryan Owen; one brother, Lawrence Phaup and two step-sisters, Brooke Degregorio and Michelle Phaup. 

 Due to the Covid-19 and the Governor's Executive Order, the family will held a Private Graveside Service Friday, April 17, 2020 at DeKalb Cemetery with Bro. Michael Hale officiating. 

 In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses, you can either call or mail the donations to the funeral home.  You may also send condolences on the funeral home website or mail any sympathy cards to the funeral home at P.O.
