A memorial service for Clarence Stanley Massie, 88, of Smithville, was held Sept. 29 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel.     
Mr. Massie passed away Sept. 25 at his residence. He served in the U.S. Marines and WWII, was a member of the American Legion and VFW and he was a brickmason.  
He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Lottie Debro Massie; son Michael Massie; daughter Rose Marie Faight; sisters Mary, Margaret, Darlene, Delores, Faye and Barbara Massie.
Survivors include his children Patricia Marie (Dennis) Barilski of Indiana, Joan Ann Massie of Smithville and James T. (Ramie) Massie of Ohio; grandchildren Jordan Lasky, Chad, Derek and Amanda Barilski, Christopher J., Bryan and Melissa Massie, Nancy, Scott and Terry Faight, Michelle Massie; great-grandchildren Isabell, Jaden and Sophia Massie; brother Gerald “Bill” Massie of Ohio; and many nieces, nephew and friends.
DeKalb Funeral Chapel, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements.
