Claude Albert Mills, 87, of Alexandria, died April 2 at NHC HealthCare in Smithville.
He was born in Dandridge and was the son of the late Rev. William Mitchell Mills and Nora Holt Mills. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific where he was awarded the Purple Heart. Claude was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Lebanon and a retired inspector with the U.S. Department of Defense.
Claude is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lee Capps Mills of Alexandria; daughter Rebecca Ann McBride and husband, Russell, of Lancaster, Ohio; son David Lee Mills and wife, Janet, of Pagosa Springs, Colo.; grandchildren Zachary McBride of Lancaster, Ohio, Laurel (Gary) Foreman of Mt. Vernon, Ohio, Alisha (Michael) Wilhide of Troy, N.C., Judith (Bubba) Oliver and Samuel (Alyse) Mills, both of Watertown, Hannah and Micah Mills, both of Paposa Springs, Colo.; great-grandchildren Kailee Forman, Claudia, Jesse and Cohen Wilhide, Dakota Dotson, Dailey and MacKenzie Oliver, Tristen Mills, Scarlett and Savannah Mills; and a niece Carolyn (Delano) Griffee of Ashville, N.C.
Funeral services were held April 6 at Hunter Funeral Home. Bro. Gary Wilson officiatied with burial following with military honors at Jones Hill Cemetery.
