Clysta Geraldine Lassiter, 93, went home to be with her Lord on Monday afternoon, January 11, 2021, at her residence following an extended illness. She was born on October 27, 1927 in Smithville the daughter of Travis and Emma (Bond) Parsley.
Clysta attended Smithville city schools and later married the love of her life, Charles R. Lassiter 1947 in Smithville and he preceded her in death in 1997. Mrs. Lassiter had been a homemaker and also had worked for approximately 15 years prior to her retirement in 1979 for the American Wire Corporation as a Laborer. She was a member of the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church for many years and enjoyed square dancing with the Friendly Steppers Square Dancing Group and was also a member of several camping groups.
Survivors include; two sons, Michael Lassiter (Paulette), Muncie and Dwight Wayne Lassiter, Muncie; one daughter, Darla Carter, Parker City; six grandchildren, Jeramy Lassiter (Rachel), Muncie, Benjamin Lassiter (Kelly), Selma, Bridget Lassiter (Jacob), Muncie, Joey Carter, Parker City, Desiree Carter, Anderson and Joshua Lassiter (Heather), Virginia Beach, Virginia; Twelve great grandchildren; one great, great grandchild; one sister, Linda Sue Cantrell, Smithville, Tennessee; several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband of fifty years, Charles, she is preceded in death by her parents and five siblings, Chloe Cripps, Travis Parsley, Jr., Max Parsley, Glenn Parsley and Charles Parsley.
Private graveside service was held at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery north of Muncie with Pastor Nancy Hunt officiating. Parson Mortuary Cremation Center is entrusted with these arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to either the American Cancer Society or the Indiana University Health Hospice Group.
