Funeral services for George A. Colgan, 86, of Smithville were held Dec. 1 at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home.

 

Bro. Larry Green officiated burial followed in DeKalb Memorial Gardens.

 

He passed away Nov. 28 at his residence.

 

He was a retired Kmart executive, affiliated with Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and a member of the American Red Cross and ASPCA.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ida Colgan Jr.; wife, Brenda Blair Colgan; sister, Jane; Bob Hoerger.

 

He is survived by one daughter, Kerri and Neal Wait of Minnesota; three sons, Keel Colgan of Baltimore, Trace and Vivian Colgan of Florida, and Crede and Carina Colgan of Smithville; one step-son, Scott and Tammy Turner of Smithville; nine grandchildren; one niece Kathy Compton; mother of his children, Helen Matthews of North Carolina; special caregivers, Deanna Brooks, Elizabeth Smith, and April Hale.

 

Pallbearers included; Crede, Keel and Trace Colgan, Scott Turner, Neal Wait, and John Worful.

 

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to the DeKalb County Animal Coalition.

 

Love-Cantrell Funeral Home, Smithville was in charge of the arrangements
