Funeral services for David Gipson, 61, of Sevierville were held Dec. 23 at the Chapel at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home.

Bro. Gaylon Dawson and Dean Gipson officiated, with burial following with Military Honors in DeKalb Memorial Gardens.

He passed away Dec. 17 at LeConte Medical Center in Sevierville.

He retired from the Army National Guard with more than 27 years’ service, was a Baptist, a former state trooper and an electrician.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Kristie Cook Gipson; parents, Joe Gipson Jr., and Ruby E. Shrum; grandparents, Joe and Nelly Gipson Sr., and Walden Shrum and Cora Drake.

He is survived by one daughter, Misty and Tim Pomplun of Murfreesboro; three step-children, Justin and Mary Lohorn of Smithville, Darin and Cheyene Caldwell of McMinnville, Erica and Austin Highers of Smithville; six grandchildren; four brothers, Billy Gipson of Murfreesboro, Larry and Kathy Gipson of Murfreesboro, Dean and Shirley Gipson of Shelbyville and Ricky Gipson of Murfreesboro; Mother-in-law, Faye Cook of Smithville; Father-in-law, Eddie Cook of Smithville; several aunts, uncles, nephews, and nieces also survive; and his dog Bella.

Pallbearers included; Michael, Danny, Joey and Parker Gipson, Justin Lohorn, Tim and Cameron Pomplun, and Darin Caldwell.

Love-Cantrell Funeral, Smithville was in charge of the arrangements.
