Funeral services for Donald Sheets, 92, of Smithville were held April 9 at St. Gregory Catholic Church with Father David Cooney officiating. Burial followed at DeKalb Cemetery with full military honors.   
Mr. Sheets passed away April 4 at his residence. He was a retired aircraft engineer, was a member of the American Legion and was a WWII veteran serving in the Army Air Force. He was of the Catholic faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Magaret Sheets.
Survivors include his wife Carolyn Sheets of Smithville; six children, Margaret and John Boehnlein of Indiana, Patricia and Carl Muia of South Bend, Ind.,  Donald J. and Sue Sheets of South Bend, Ind., Thomas J. Sheets of San Diego, Calif., Laura and Bryan Vanlandingham of Granger, Ind.; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Marjorie Baldini of Naples, Fla.
Pallbearers included Donald J. Sheets, Thomas J. Sheets, Carl Muia, Jerry Alsop, Bryan Vanlandingham, John Boehnlein and Daniel Sheets.
Love-Cantrell Funeral Home, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements.
