Dorothy Bryant, 97, of Nashville, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2023. 

She was born to Floyd and Dora Bryant on October 28, 1925 in what used to be known as Kalb Hollow in Nashville.  She attended Hume Fogg High School and went to work for Genesco, where she worked until she retired.

Dorothy was a 73 year member of the Order of Eastern Star.  She served as Worthy Matron at Rock City Chapter in Nashville in 1954 and 1996.  She was Worthy Grand Matron for the state of Tennessee in 1991.  She loved Eastern Star, the work and the fellowship.  She traveled extensively throughout Tennessee during her years of service and spent time with many of these special friends on several trips abroad.

She was a member of the Forest Hills United Methodist Church.  She especially loved her Sunday school class.  They had a very special bond and had been together for many years.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Dora; her brother, Eugene Turner Bryant; and her nephew, Fred Duran.

Dorothy is survived by her nieces and nephew, Dora-Lynne Bryant, Debra Bryant Duran, and Eugene Kent (Janis) Bryant; seven great nieces and nephews and five great, great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday, June 2, noon-2 at Woodlawn-Patton-Roesch in Nashville.

Memorial Service will be held Friday, June 2, 2:30pm at Woodlawn-Patton-Roesch in Nashville.

Family graveside service to be held at Whorton Springs at noon on Thursday, June 1, 2023. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that remembrances be made in the form of contributions to the Eastern Star Youth Scholarship and St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
