Dorothy Jean Cantrell, 80

Dorothy Jean Cantrell, age 80 of Smithville, passed away Thursday morning January 10, 2019 at her residence.  She was a member of Whorton Springs Baptist Church, she taught Sunday school, Bible School, and loved many other activities in the church; she was a member of the Smithville F.C.E. club and worked as a teacher for 28 years at Head Start.  Dorothy Jean enjoyed gardening and her flowers.

 She was born December 20, 1938 to her parents, the late Charlie and O'Fallon Hubbard Estes.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J.M. Cantrell; sister, Carolyn Ann Smith and great-granddaughter, Lydia Jean Cantrell. 

 She is survived by three children, Jada Cantrell, Stefan Cantrell and Kyle Cantrell all of Smithville; two grandchildren, Delena Cantrell and Sayla Cantrell; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Helen Hale and Gary Tripp; special neighbors Joann Bradford, Joe and Sue Foster and Jerry and Linda White; special church friends Kathy and Bob Frodle, June Carter, Dean and Ann Adcock and Bro. Mike Carpenter.

 Funeral service was conducted Monday, January 14, 2019 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros. Mike Carpenter, David Mahan and Michael Hale officiating and burial following in DeKalb Memorial Gardens.  

 Serving as pallbearers were Stefan Cantrell, Bryan Young, Joey Young, Ken Webb, Roy Goodwin, and Bradley Smith.

 DeKalb Funeral Chapel, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements.
