Dorothy Puckett

Dorothy Jean Puckett, age 79 of Smithville passed away Saturday morning, May 2, 2020 at her residence. 

 

She was born September 14, 1940 to her parents, the late Obie and Vera Earline Redman Certain.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Buddy Puckett; step-father, Lonnie Rigsby and brother, Gordon Certain. 

 

Dorothy worked at Geny's Wholesale Florist in Nashville, volunteered with the Food Pantry and Clothes Closet and was a member of the Bright Hill United Methodist Church. 

 

She leaves to cherish her memory, two children, Jimmy (Anita) Puckett of Smithville and Fran (Dave) Bennett of Maryville; six grandchildren, Mikki (Matt) Trentham, Hunter Bennett and Fiancé, Lyndsey, Kristian (Dustin) Nelson, Kidman Puckett and Fiancé, Dophcar, Lexi Bennett and Addison Puckett; four great-grandchildren, Lakelyn and Camden Nelson, Violet and Asher Trentham; nephews, Terry, Eric and Jeff Certain; special family, Hooper Judkins, Frances Kiaha and Erma Haun. 

 

Due to the Governor's Executive Order 30, and the recommendation of family only services and continued Social Distancing, a Private Graveside Service was held Sunday, May 3, 2020 at Burton-Ponder Cemetery. 

 

Pallbearers included Jeff Certain, Terry Certain, Matt Trentham, Hunter Bennett, Dustin Nelson, Greg Judkins, and Jimmy Poss. Honorary pallbearers were members of Bright Hill U.M.C.

 

In addition to flowers, donations may be made to the Bright Hill United Methodist Church, in memory of Ms. Dorothy.  Those donations can be made by calling the funeral home.  Condolences to the family may be made on the funeral home website and any sympathy cards may be mailed to the funeral home at P.O. Box 634, Smithville, TN  37166 and we will give them to the family.
