Funeral services for Dorothy Mae Young Carter, 81, of Short Mountain Community were held June 29 at the chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home. Rev. Don Spencer officiated, with burial following in Gunter-Grizzle Cemetery.
She passed away June 26 at her home.
She was a life-long resident of the Short Mountain Community in Cannon County. Dot was a charter member of the New Short Mountain Methodist Church. bodycopy
She retired from Magnetek Century Electric in 1993 and began mowing yards all over Cannon County which she did for the next 15 years. She will be remembered by aher Ford pickup pulling a trailer with John Deere lawnmowers and her "Cap" that she always wore. bodycopyShe is survived by a son; Eddie (Debi) Youngblood of Short Mountain Community; daughter, Vickie Youngblood Griffith of Short Mountain Community; grandchildren, Mark (Laurie) Youngblood, Marty (Cheryl) Youngblood, Matt Youngblood, Amanda (Josh) Thomas and Ashley (Devin) Young; great-grandchildren, Cason, Daylen, Kaylee, Hattie, Peyton and Camden; step-granddaughter, Amber(Keith) Boeham; step-great-grandson,; step-great-grandson, Brent Boeham; special son, James" Cookie" Cook; caregiver, Lisa Miller Andrews.
