Funeral services for Douglas McArthur Swofford, 69, of Smithville, were held July 21 at the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Bernard Houk officiated with burial following in DeKalb Cemetery.
Mr. Swofford passed away July 19 at NHC of Smithville. He was a construction worker with Nashville Bridge Company and worked 12 years for the City of Smithville and was affiliated with the Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Maggie Whitson Swofford, and brother, Kenneth Swofford.
Survivors include his wife of three years, Alma Swofford of Smithville; a son, Robert Swofford of Lebanon; a step-son, Adam (Sue) Colwell of Smithville; three step-daughters, Frances (Tommy) Cates of Smithville, Eva (Carl) Bandy of Smithville and Rita (Jimmy) Taylor of Smithville; special friends, John (Linda) Alford of Smithville; and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were James Lee Johnson, David Lattimore, Carl Lattimore, Ronnie Lattimore, Alvin Allen Reeder Jr., Steve Spencer and Johnathan Moore.
Love-Cantrell Funeral Home, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements.
