Ross
Douglas “Sarge III” Ross, Sr., age 60, of Smithville passed away Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Cookeville Regional Hospital after a fight with stage four cancer and complications of heart disease.
He was born May 1, 1958 at Ingalls Memorial Hospital in Harvey, Illinois. He held numerous U.S. Postal positions during his career such as Carrier, MPLSM Clerk, Supervisor, Manager Tour Superintendent, Postmaster and Executive Senior Plant Manager. Douglas was recognized in the Cambridge Who’s Who registry of Executives, Professionals and Entrepreneurs 2009-2010 Edition. As a young adult he developed a love for the Martial Arts until death. His vision materialized the Center Hills Martial and Healing Arts Club in its present renovated state in Smithville. Douglas was a member of Smithville Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Douglas is survived by his wife Dinah Ross of Smithville, three daughters and three sons; Venus A. Mackell, Carl Bell (Stephanie), James R. Harden III (Tracie), Athena C. Giddens (Nephets), Cherita Patterson (Calvin), Douglas Ross Jr. (Alejandra Lira). Three brothers and two sisters: Cynthia (Andrew Morgan), Fred E. Ross, Robert B. Ross, Tom McElroy III, Camille L. McElroy. One Granddaughter preceded him in death, Fourteen Grandchildren, two Great-Grandchildren a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, first and second cousins and a multitude of dear friends, students and mentees.
Memorial Services will be held Friday, May 25, 2018 at 5:00 pm at the Center Hill Martial and Healing Arts Club located at 2580 Nashville Hwy, Smithville TN 37166.
