Doyle Hi Christian, 83, of Woodbury went on to be with the Lord surrounded by family on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital. He was born September 29, 1936 in DeKalb County and married the love of his life on October 28, 1955 in Smithville. He was a trader, farmer, and logger for over 40 years before his retirement. More importantly he was a devoted and loving son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend.

Doyle was saved and served the Lord with all his heart. Doyle loved his family and was a wonderful provider for them throughout his life. He could often be found on the farm, in the woods, or trading. Doyle was a quiet man that used the sunrise as his alarm clock. Though he said little, his life led his family by example and his actions spoke volumes.

Mr. Christian loved life and enjoyed being in nature. Throughout life, he made many friends at livestock barns and trading adventures. Doyle had an amazing smile and contagious laughter that would make people want to be around him. Doyle was an honest, hard-working man that his family loved and will be reunited with one day in heaven.

In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Reba Provins. two grandchildren, Gary Mitchell Fleet and Candy Annette Fleet; sisters, Elizabeth Davis, Evangeline Hood, Margaret Fields, Pauline Elrod, Maggie Wheeler; brothers, James, Erbie and Eugene Christian.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Jessie Ramsey Christian of Woodbury; two daughters, Linda and George Tripp of Liberty and Sally Sullivan of Bonecave; five grandchildren, Paula Davis of Woodbury, Heidi Herman of Woodbury, Angela Georgette Tripp of Liberty, Sara & Brandon Johnson of Chattanooga, Cassie Leigh Tripp of Liberty; six great grandchildren, Lydia Danielle and Eric Cantrell of Lebanon, Katelyn Alysia Carr of Chattanooga, Christian Aron Trail of Liberty, Brady Doyle Davis of Murfreesboro, Oliver Johnson & Zayne Johnson both of Chattanooga; sister, Kathleen and Bill Moss of Buffalo Valley; brother, Roy and Margie Christian of Buffalo Valley.

Funeral services was held on Sunday, February 23, 2020 from the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. David Dodd officiated with burial following at DeKalb Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were George Tripp, Christian Trail, Robert Christian, Allen Christian, Greg Elrod, and Larry Sandlin.

Donations can be made to the Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital in memory of Mr. Doyle Christian.

Love-Cantrell Funeral Home, Smithville, was in charge of arrangements.
