Dr. Richard Loren Jones, age 91, of Smithville, passed away Thursday morning, March 5, 2020 at NHC HealthCare Center in Smithville.
He was born November 9, 1928 in Pana, IL to his parents, the late Harold Vernon and Helen Kay Grossman Jones. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Charles V. Jones.
Dr. Jones practiced in Cowden, Illinois until his retirement in 1969 at which time he and his family moved to Arizona and he served as Student Health Administrator at ASU. He was a member of the Dry Creek Baptist Church and a U.S. Army Veteran having served in Korea.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Delores Jones of Smithville; two children, Richard Reed Jones of Crossville and Janet (Kevin) Felts of Tullahoma; one grandson, Trent Jones of Knoxville and one great-granddaughter, Nora Jones.
The family chose direct cremation and a Memorial Service will be held Sunday, March 15, 2020 at 5 p.m. at Dry Creek Baptist Church with Bro. Donald Owens officiating. Visitation with the family will be on Sunday 3 p.m. until the time of the service.
DeKalb Funeral Chapel, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements.
