Funeral services for Willie A. "Bill" Ervin, 97, of the Snow Hill Community were held Oct. 26 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Bro. Michael Hale officiated, with burial following in Mt. Holly Cemetery.

 

He passed away Oct. 24 at the Newport Health and Rehab.

 

He was the son of the late Felix and Elsie Hicks Ervin.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Minnie Bell Ervin, Ruby Page and Rosie Durham.

 

He was a Baptist and a farmer.

 

Survivors include his lifelong friend and special companion, Maxine Spurgeon of Smithville, special family and caregivers, Randy and Pat Spurgeon of Newport; special baby, Stephanie Spurgeon of Newport; several nieces and nephews and special friend, Jewell Duke of Dowelltown.

 

Pallbearers included; Charles Cantrell, Jewell Duke, Charles Cantrell, Randy Spurgeon, Bobby Wheeler, and Joey Phillips.

 

DeKalb Funeral Chapel, Smithville was in charge of the arrangements
