Funeral Services for Evelyn Butler Speakman, 75, of Smithville were held Sept.23 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel, Bro. Bobby Thomason officiated with burial following in DeKalb Memorial Gardens.Mrs. Speakman passed away Friday, Sept. 20 at St. Thomas Hospital West in Nashville.She was a retired food service supervisor at TTU and a member of Covenant Baptist Church.She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Jenny Lou Butler; husband, Ronnie Speakman; daughter, Mary Duke; and grandaughter, Amanda Duke.Survivors include daughter, Cindy (Dwayne) Ward of Smithville; son, David (Julie) Speakman of Smithville; grandson, Chris (Trista) Ward of Lebanon; granddaughter, Savannah Speakman of Beech Grove; three grandchildren, Lilly, Aiden and Addison of Lebanon; dear friends, Florence Redmon and Wanda Knox; and special neighbor, Haskel Martin.Serving as pallbearers were Mike Foster, Danny (Pee Wee) Adams, Danny Tanner, Tony Cross, Mike Conley, and Lee Bridges.Honorary pallbearers were Dr. J.C. Wall, Buddy Thompson, Paul Donald Thompson, Bobby Thompson, Eddie Duke, and Tommy Speakman.
