Floyd Lee Culwell, age 73 of Smithville, passed away Saturday night, February 8, 2020 at the V.A. Medical Center in Nashville.
He was born June 14, 1946 to his parents, the late Eligah Brown and Lera Josie Summers Culwell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Fermon and Boyd Culwell and three sisters, Ocia Marie Arnold, Sarah Frances Hullett and Evie Mai Culwell.
Floyd was a mechanic and a U.S. Army Veteran having served in Vietnam.
Survivors include four children, Floyd Lee Culwell, II of Smithville, Samantha Greene of Sparta, Michelle Gurley of Smithville and Sandra Culwell of Smithville; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Wanda Cantrell of Smithville; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral service was held Saturday, February 15, 2020 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. David Lawson officiating. Burial followed in Bonham Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Veterans Honor Guard.
Serving as pallbearers were Richard McDaniel, Jr., David “Cotton” Bain, Tony Culwell, Grady Murphy, Scott Garrett and Jeffery Judkins.
The family asks that donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses.
DeKalb Funeral Chapel, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements.
