Funeral services for M.A. Frances Whitefield, 74, of Smithville, were held March 3 at the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Tommy Taylor officiated with burial following in DeKalb Cemetery.   
Mrs. Whitefield passed away Feb. 29 at River Park Hospital. She formerly worked at the shirt factory and was a homemaker and was affiliated with Mt. Herman Baptist Church. 
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Mary Emma Carter; a daughter, Frances Denise Whitefield; and a sister, Margie Elizabeth Carter.
Survivors include her husband, Travis Whitefield of Smithville; a daughter, Sharon (Rick) Yocum of Sparta; two granddaughters, Amy and Becky Yocum, both of Sparta; a great-granddaughter, Harliee Yocum, of Sparta; a brother, Eugene (Joy Faye) Carter of Smithville; two brothers-in-law, James Whitefield of Baxter and Willis Whitefield of Smithville; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers included Steven Carter, Jeff Carter, Michael Whitefield, Daniel Bratcher, Chris Whitefield, Earl Whitefield and Benjamin Bratcher.
Love-Cantrell Funeral Home, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements.
