Funeral services, for Fred Gorden Maynard, 74, of Smithville were held Aug. 24 at the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. David Gann officiated with burial following at Young Cemetery.  
Mr. Maynard passed away Aug. 23 at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was a retired carpenter and was affiliated with Clarks Chapel. 
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thurston and Mona Lee Maynard; son, Terry Maynard; brother, George Maynard; and two sisters, Ella Cox and Lovida Smith.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Hattie Dell Maynard of Smithville; three daughters, Evia Cooper of Sparta, Patricia Farler of Liberty and Cyrethia and Michael Stephens of Chattanooga; two sons, Jerry and Tammy Maynard of Smithville and Michael and Nancy Maynard of Sparta; 11 grandchildren, Keith Farler and Danielle Farler of Dowelltown, Mica Stephens and Joshua Stephens of Chattanooga, Carrie Cooper of Sparta, Craig Cooper, Tristan Burgess, John Maynard, Jacob Maynard, Avarie Maynard, and Keylee Maynard of Smithville; six great-grandchildren; brother, LT Maynard of Smithville; and sister, Martha Fisher of McMinnville
Pallbearers included Jeff Maynard, Craig Cooper, Keith Farler, Jacob Maynard, John Dale Maynard, Josh Burgess, John Flanders, Dane Clark, and Josh Stevens..
Love-Cantrell Funeral Home, Smithville was in charge of the arrangements.
