Freda Annette Ashford Maxwell, 70, passed away at her residence in Altamont.

She was a homemaker and a member of The Freewill Baptist Church.

She was born to her parents the late John and Maggie Bell Johnson Ashford.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by brothers, James Ashford, Owen Ashford, Wayne Ashford, and Jerry Ashford; sister-in-law, May Ashford.

She is survived by her husband, John Maxwell of Altamont; children, Vincet Maxwell of Mississippi, Brenda (Nelson) Kerby of Alabama, Chris (Holly) Maxwell of Belvidere, Steven (Kari) Maxwell of Winchester; grandchildren, Kirk Maxwell, Megan (BJ) Miller, Amanda Patrick, Tristan Maxwell, Vlad Maxwell, Hunter Maxwell, Kaden Maxwell, and Chase Maxwell; great-grandchildren, Heath, Adam, Adalynn, Huck, Luke, Granger; sister, Mildred Murphy; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral service was conducted Wednesday, July 30 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Leonard Herman officiating and burial following in DeKalb Cemetery. Pallbearers included Chris Maxwell, Nelson Kerby, B.J. Miller, Eddie Ashford, Jeff Ashford, and Jay Ramsey.

DeKalb Funeral Chapel of Smithville was in charge of the arrangements.
