Freyda Flick-Checchi was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1944 to Alfred and Yvonne Flick. She attended school in Paris, France focusing on fine arts.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband Herb Checchi, “The Village Blacksmith.” They met in South Florida where they resided and had 5 children.

 

The family later moved to Lancaster, TN in 1977. She was a homemaker and enjoyed living off the land with the help of great neighbors. Freyda loved gardening, flowers and especially her grandchildren. She was known by many as Gramma Freyda and to some as Gramma Gold. She had 4 cats that she had adopted as family, her interests include reading, painting and beading. She enjoyed her privacy, balanced with good friends, of which she had many.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband Herb Checchi, a step-daughter, Bonnnie Caplinger, and two brothers Gus and Fred Flick.

 

Freyda is survived by her sister Arlene Calpino Ill, and her brother Alan Flick PA, her five children Evvie Hunter, Geri Checchi, Carrie (Shawn) Cricitelli, Herbert (Nicola) Checchi II, and Dino “Dean Boy” (Jen) Checchi, and two step-children, Mickey (Susan) Checchi and Gail Miller.

 

She also left behind 24 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

 

She would want you to keep her close to your heart and spreading good cheer, keeping her in your thoughts and prayers, telling stories of her life.

 

There will be a celebration of life to be announced at later date.
