Glenda Deweese Walters, 62, of Pikeville went to be with Lord on June 30.
She attended Mooneyham Freewill Baptist Church.
Mrs. Walters was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Norma Deweese.
During Glenda’s 25 years of nursing she was awarded the Presidential Award of Excellence in Nursing and met former President Bill Clinton. She was also awarded the Tenn. Nurse of the Year and was named in the Who’s Who of the Medical Community of America.
Survivors include her husband, Derrell Walters of Pikeville; Glenice (Michael) McKenzie of Atoka; son, Anthony Walters of Pikeville; stepsons, Derrell Walters, Jr. and Stan Walters; two grandchildren, Nicholas and Christian McKenzie; seven step-grandchildren; step-grandchildren; sister, Pat (Wayne) Sullivan of Sparta; two brothers, Leon (Judy) Deweese and John (Minnie) Deweese all of Pikeville; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services were held July 3 at Mooneyham Freewill Baptist Church with burial following in Blankenship Cemetery.
Putnam-Reed Funeral Home, Pikeville, was in charge of the arrangements.
