Funeral services for Gordon Omer Warfel, 88, of Smithville, were held Dec. 17 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Bro. Mark Bass officiated with burial following in Westlawn Cemetery in Newtown, Ill.   
Mr. Warfel passed away Dec. 14 at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was an electrical engineer, an US Navy veteran, a Mason,  a Shriner and was a member of the Smithville First Baptist Church. 
 He was preceded in death by his parents, Omer and Docia Adkins Warfel; and two sisters, Ilah Britton and Violet.
Survivors include his wife, Mainell Warfel of Smithville; two children, Gordon William (Linda) Warfel of Charleston, Il., and Marle (Tommy) Davis of Smyrna; six grandchildren, Randall (Donna) Warfel, Layne (Jennifer) Warfel, Kim Warfel, Kent Cast, Nathan Davis and Chandler (Scott) Schwede; seven great-grandchildren, Jacob and Kendall Cast, Patric and Hali Davis, Brenden Warfel, and Braden and Maddox Schwede; and one sister, Peggy Enright of Apex, NC.
DeKalb Funeral Chapel, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements.
