Funeral services for Grady Thurman, 86, of Smithville, were held Jan. 26 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Bro. Tim Woodward and Bro. Dan Gulley officiated with burial following in Whorton Springs Cemetery.
Mr. Thurman passed away Jan. 24 at his residence. He was a member of the Smithville Church of Christ and was a retired construction worker, retired from Carrir and he was a farmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Alonzo and Birchie Ann Vaughn Thurman; his wife, Edith Jo Thurman; a daughter, Sandra Sue Thurman; three sisters, Lorrine Foutch, Myrtle Gilam, Nadine Lawrence; and a nephew, Thomas Vaughn.
Survivors include a son, William Moss Thurman of Cookeville; a nephew, David "Boxie" Foutch of Smithville; special niece and nephew, Deborah Goodwin and Carl Lee Webb of Smithville; and special family, Melvin, Teresa, Karley, Carl, Robin, Justin, Mary, and Brayden Knowles; and special friend, Jean Love.
Pallbearers included Billy Wilingham, Rob Willingham, Jason Poss, Clay Farler, Larry Henry and Russell Watson.
Serving as honorary pallbearers were Carl Lee Webb, Carl Knowles, Justin Knowles, Ronnie Goodwin and Russel Odom.
DeKalb Funeral Chapel, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements.
