Marion Katharyn Cantrell Green, 86, died January 27 of natural causes. She was a long-term survivor of a stroke suffered 17 years earlier.

She was born April 21, 1928, to the late Dewey Lee and Hazel Parsley Cantrell. She married Joe Houston Green on May 21, 1947, and they lived a long life together in the Green Hill Community.

Marion was preceded in death by her husband Joe, son Joe Allan, sister, Dorothy (Paul) Bratcher, and great-grandsons Hunter and Harrison Bryan.

She was an incredibly devoted, hard-working woman throughout her life, both as a seamstress and homemaker, but her life’s work and proudest accomplishments were caring for and loving those who knew her as Ma, Mother and Granny.

Marion was a quintessential wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother-exceedingly kind, gentle and always forgiving. Her family will forever remember her as a living embodiment of unconditional love.

Her memory and best attributes live on through her son Larry (Amy) Green, daughter, Barbara (Darrell) Russell, and daughter-in-law, Teresa Green of McMinnville; brothers, Dewey Lee (Joann) Cantrell and Landon (Sylvia) Cantrell of McMinnville; grandchildren Kelly (Mike) Hicks of Chattanooga, George (Tara) Green of McMinnville, Anissa (Tim) Russell Webster of McMinnville, Stacie Green of Chattanooga, Laura (Rob) Sparkman of Tullahoma, Julie (Rex) Rutledge of Chattanooga, Carrie Green of McMinnville, Adam Green of Chattanooga, Katherine (Brian) Reed of McMinnville,; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Marion’s family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude and appreciation to her caregivers and friends the past several years, both at her home and NHC Healthcare in Smithville, Tennessee.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Tennessee Valley Healthcare Voluntary Service, Alvin C. York Campus or the American Stroke Association.

The funeral service was held Friday, January 30, 2015 at McMinnville Funeral Home, Teddy Jones officiated. Burial followed at Webb Cemetery at Bluff Springs.
