Elrod

Harold Curtis Elrod, age 74, of Smithville, passed away Sunday morning at NHC HealthCare Center in Smithville. 

Harold was born January 29, 1942 to his parents, the late Cecil and Eula McCormick Elrod.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Lawrence Ballard; three brothers, H.D. Elrod, Billy Elrod, and Roy Ballard.  He was retired from Avco and attended Dry Creek Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Fay Elrod of Smithville; two children, Diana (Mark) Kennedy and Steve (Jenny) Elrod both of Cookeville; step-daughter, Lisa Church of Smithville; eight grandchildren, Quastaia Braswell, Ashley Pierrot, Sarah Beth Kennedy, Vanessa Kennedy, Raymond Kennedy, Charles Kennedy, Zoe Elrod, and Jonah Elrod; two great-grandchildren, Kaylee Braswell and Kolby Jacobs. 

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, June 7 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Bro. Donald Owens and Bro. Mark Kennedy officiated. Graveside services and interment were conducted Tuesday at Sand Springs Cemetery in Monterey. 

Pallbearers included: Jeff Elrod, George Brent Taylor, James D. Vaughn, Bud Vaughn, Minnis Vaughn, Charles Kennedy, Raymond Kennedy, and Tommy Trammel.

DeKalb Funeral Chapel, was in charge of the arrangements.
