Funeral service for Harold Dean Dawes, age 79, of Smithville was held February 4, 2018 at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Bill Robertson and Bro. Joel Wood officiated with burial following in DeKalb Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Dawes passed away Saturday, February 3, 2018 at the Alive Hospice House in Nashville.

He was retired from his position in Marketing and Sales at Middle Tennessee Natural Gas and attended Elizabeth Chapel Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star, Tennessee Southern Gas, The Eagles Club, and he was a Shriner.

He was preceded in death by his parents Rudolph and Daisy Mae Cothron Dawes, one daughter Linda Carol Wauford, and two brothers, Ralph and Garrett Dawes.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years Joel Dawes, one Daughter and son-in-law-Judy and Steve Merritt, four Sisters- Judy Coley, Betty Minchey, Kaye Sadler and her husband Phillip, Ruth Davis, one special sister-in-law- Audrey Dawes, five Grandchildren- Kim Shearin (Chris), Tiffanie Claiborne, Eric Barrett (Brandi), Christina Barnes, and Jamie Jackson. 16 Great Grandchildren, two Step Grandchildren-James Merritt (Melissa) and Terry Merritt. six Step Great Grandchildren, and two special friends-Mike & Faye Lamarca.

Serving as pallbearers were Charles Caplinger, Tim and Jackie Coley, Timmy and Alex Dawes, Troy Davis, Shaun and Scottie Sadler. Honorary pallbearers were McDonald coffee drinkers.

Love-Cantrell Funeral Home, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements.
