Funeral services for Bobby Lowe "Blue" Hayes, 68, of Dowelltown were held Aug. 24 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel.

Bro. Bryan Jones officiated, with interment following in Prosperity Cemetery.

He passed away Aug. 21 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro.

He was born June 26, 1947 to the late J.T. and Irene Davis Hayes.

He was a member of Elizabeth Chapel Baptist Church and the National Spotted Saddle Horse Association, and a U.S. Army Veteran. He retired from the Corp of Engineers, and was employed at Advance Auto.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Shirley Hayes of Dowelltown; one son, Joel Hayes of Dowelltown; one daughter, Lora (Tony) Hortert of Murfreesboro; three grandchildren, Christian, Garrett and Rachel Hortert; one sister, Barbara (Richard) Harris of Macon, GA; one sister-in-law, Marcia (Bobby) Mayo of Woodbury.

Pallbearers included; Alan Hayes, Tim Hayes, Christian Hortert, Dale Mayo, Kevin Prater, and Steven Mayo.
