Funeral services for Helen Faye Bates Self of Smithville, 65, were held Nov. 1, at DeKalb  Funeral Chapel. Bro. Charles Lawson officiated with burial at Cannady Cemetery.
Mrs. Self passed away Oct. 25 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.
She was a Baptist and a homemaker.
She was the daughter of the late Porter and Melissa Lamberson Bates.
In additon to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, T.J. Self; grandchild, Christina Byford; brother, Grady Dale Bates; and step-daughter, Linda Farris.
Survivors include one son, Jeff Byford and Tara Clemons of Hartsville; daughter, Doris Byford and Ricky Thomas of Smithville; step-daughter, Vicky Ramsey; sister, Betty Jo Cantrell of Smithville; brother, Kenneth Bates of Alexandria; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers included Patrick Ray, Tyler Reed, Jaylee Mullican, Tim Watson, Daniel Bates, and Art Weber.
Honorary pallbearers were Jesse Kleinpeter, Dakota Byford and Selena Byford.
DeKalb Funeral Chapel, Smithville, was in charge of arrangements.
