Malsky
A memorial service honoring, Helen Skurja Malsky, age 93 of Smithville, formerly of Bridgeport will be held Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Am Vets Post 101 in Smithville from 1:00-5:00 p.m.
Helen passed away Saturday, October 28, 2017.
She was born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey on December 21, 1923 to the late John and Mary (Kalabisko) Skurja and had been a long time area resident. She was a graduate of Mount St. Joseph Academy in Rutland, Vermont and was a former model for Alexandria Studios and also worked for General Electric, Schick, Norden’s and retired from Harvey Hubbell. Helen was an active member of Holy Ghost R.O. Church in Bridgeport, where she was past secretary of the church council, a former Sunday school teacher, and was very active in all of their fundraising endeavors. She was also a member of the Holy Ghost Seniors, the Orthodox Women’s Council, and the Smithville Veteran’s Auxiliary. Helen enjoyed playing Bingo and taking bus trips to the casino.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband John Malsky; a son, John W. Malsky; brothers Charlie, John, George, and Frank; sisters, Mary Chruszczyk and Anne Lysik.
She is survived by her devoted daughters, Sharon Rust and her husband Curt, Diane Johnson and her husband Ralph, and Carol Ann Malsky, all of Tennessee, 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
