Funeral services for Betty Jean Baker Herndon, 81, of Smithville were held July 26 at First Baptist Church.

 

Bro. Mark Bass officiated, with burial following at DeKalb Memorial Gardens.

 

She passed away July 22 at Centennial Medical Center.

 

She was a retired school teacher. She taught 27 years at Smithville Elementary School. She was a member of F.C.E., Gleaners Sunday School Class and Tuesday morning Bible Study Group.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Russell Herndon; Parents Ira and Velma Hill Baker; grandson, Weston Cole; Sister, Barbara Baker Colvert; daughter-in-law, Margie Herndon; sister-in-law, Judy Baker.

 

She is survived by her children; Lynn Badgett (Richard West), Robert Russell Herndon, Jr. (Tami), Martha Riggs (Greg), Mary Pugh (Joe), Mark Herndon (Sandi), Carol Cole (Todd). She is also survived by her brother, Bill Baker and Sister, Mary Louise Fitzgerald (Paul); 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Joyce Terrell Crook and Betty Sue Herndon. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

 

Pallbearers included; Jon Badgett, Clint Riggs, Bradley Pugh, Mitchell Cole, Hunter Herndon and Braxton Pugh.

 

Love-Cantrell Funeral Home, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements
