J. R. Redmon, age 82 of Smithville, passed away Thursday, September 12, 2019 at NHC Healthcare.
He attended the Smithville Church of Christ and was retired from Textron. Mr. Redmon also served in the United States Navy and Air Force.
Mr. Redmon was born October 22, 1936 to his parents, the late Joe and Stella Moore Redmon. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by step-father, George Clark; siblings, David Redmon, Virginia Herron, Ida Mai Benoit, and Judy Minnear; nephews, Russell Herron, and David Ray Redmon; special family, Karen Blair Jacobs.
He is survived by his children, Angelia (Dennis) Trapp of Smithville and Richard ( Tanya) Redmon
of Newport, NC.; grandchildren, Jeremy (Jenny) Trapp, Joseph Trapp, Josh Redmon, Amy Redmon, Jessica Redmon; bonus grandchildren, Justin (Macy) Nokes, Kathryn Blair, Caitlin Jacobs, Anna Rachel Blair, William Blair; great-grandchildren, Hannah Trapp, Leah Trapp, James Banks, Tristan Wilson, and Carlee Wilson; special friend, Betty Hollis Blair; special family, Keith (Amanda) Blair of Smithville, and Shawn Jacobs of Smithville; former wife the mother of his children, Dixie Redmon Greer. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral service was held Monday, September 16, 2019 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Darrel Gill and Richard Redmon officiating. Burial followed in Riverside Gardens Cemetery in Woodbury.
