Mr. James C. "Jim" Fields, 76, of New Hope Road, Alexandria, died Aug. 18 at DeKalb Community Hospital, Smithville.
Mr. Fields was born April 7, 1935 in Whitesburg, Ky. the son of Phoebe Adkins Fields and the late Nelson Fields. Three brothers, Delmer, Howard, and Richard Fields preceded him in death.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 until 1974. He married Jeanette Ellis on December 21, 1957 and she preceded him in death on September 6, 2006. Mr. Fields was a member of the Pisgah United Methodist Church.
Mr. Fields is survived by his mother, Phoebe Fields of Whitesburg, Ky.; five daughters, Pam (Mark) Dillard of Alexandria, Arlene (Bob) Davis Vidalia, Ga. Sonya Fields of Lebanon, Jimmie Alvis of Lebanon, and Rhonda Armendariz of Jacksonville, Ark.; seven grandchildren, Clint (Deddie) Johnson, Lance (Courtney) Dillard, Brooke Bogle, Peyton Harper, Brittany (Andy) Sanders, Ryan Temple, and Karen Mumphrey; eight great-grandchildren, Ellie, Davis, Emily, Zach, Dana, Andrew, Nathaniel, and Christopher; five brothers, Ralph (Donna) Fields, Orell (Laura) Fields, Rex (Tilda) Fields, Dean (Kathy) Fields, and Gary Fields; eight sisters, Katherine (Merle) Haskins, Evelyn Cosgrif, Juanita (Curtis) Caudill, Janet (Johnny) Napier, Ella Mae (Mark) Caudill, Helen (Danny) Roberts, Libby ( Johnny) Honeycutt, and Lisa (David) Howard.
Services for Mr. Field were held at the Avant Funeral Home, Alexandria, on Aug. 20, with Bro. Matthew Long officiating. Interment with military honors was at the Pisgah Cemetery.
