James Henry Wade of Cookeville passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on July 5, 2014. Funeral Services will be held July 9 at 2 PM in the chapel of Presley Funeral Home with internment following in Crest Lawn.

 

Mr. Wade was born September 10, 1934 in Baxter to Floyd Lee Wade and Bertha Jared Wade.

 

James Wade was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was devoted to his church, family and friends. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, gardening, bluegrass music, automobiles, and blessed many with his great sense of humor, laughter and love of conversation. Mr. Wade was a member and deacon of Cookeville Primitive Baptist Church. He retired in 1992 from the Ford Motor Company and was a member of the UAW Local 737.

 

Mr. Wade is survived by his wife of 60 years, Phoebe Runyon Wade; two daughters, Wanda Wade Johnson (Lewis) of Nashville and Debra Wade Sacran (David) of Smithville; seven grandchildren, James Jason Sacran (Rebekah) of Magazine, AR, Louis Sacran (Abigail) of New Albany, MS, Tommy Sacran (Kara) of Tupelo, MS, Cody Johnson, US Army-Ft. Stewart, GA, Dale Johnson (Monica) of US Navy-Washington D.C., Laura Geiger (Gary) of Colorado Springs, CO, and Leha Medders (Robert) of Waverly, GA ; 14 great grandchildren, Elaina, Claire, Eily, Nora-James, Lily, David, Nadia Sacran, Sara Geiger Lloyd (Jason), Ryan Geiger, Drew Geiger, Derrick, Alexandra, Jordon, Gabriella Johnson; one brother, Joe Ray Wade (Mildred) of Baxter; two sisters, Ruth Lee Wade Scarlett (Wilson) of Nashville and Doris Carlene Wade Hensley (Carroll) of Gainesboro and a host of nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to his parents, Mr. Wade was preceded in death by two brothers, Gilbert Lester Wade and Gerald Winfrey Wade; two sisters, Nell Dean Wade Terry and Betty Sue Wade Russell.

 

Pallbearers will be James Jason Sacran, Louis Sacran, Tommy Sacran, Fred Riddle, Bobby Jared, Carroll Hensley, Jim Earley, and Emery Settles. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Wade, Cody Johnson, Lewis Johnson, David Sacran, Wilson Scarlett, Wallace Runyon, Roy Jared, Eugene Jared, John Allen, Clyde Hodge, Glen Bremer, Earl Lampley, and UAW Local 737.

 

Elder Kurt Settles, pastor of Cookeville Primitive Baptist Church, Elder Louis Sacran of Ripley Primitive Baptist Church and Brother Tommy Sacran of Ripley Primitive Baptist Church will officiate at the services.
