James “Jim” D. Young, 78, of Seymour, passed away on Friday, July 4, 2025.
He was a member of Sevierville Church of Christ. He was born on July 8, 1946, in Smithville, TN. Jim had a passion for camping and traveling, always embracing the adventure of the outdoors. A devoted Tennessee VOLS fan, he followed the team with unwavering enthusiasm. Known for his meticulous nature, Jim took great pride in staying organized and keeping things spotless—his love for cleaning was unmatched. He washed his truck several times a week, even braving the cold winter months to keep it gleaming. Everything had its place, and he worked tirelessly to make sure it stayed that way. His yard was a labor of love, a reflection of his dedication to perfection. Above all, Jim loved his family deeply and wholeheartedly—they were the center of his world.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Foutch Young and Ruby Jean Medley Young.
Jim is survived by his wife, Alene Young; sons, Chris Young (Laura), and Matthew Young (Neci); daughter, Kelly White (David); grandchildren, Caleb (Kayle) Young, Cameron Young, Caden Young, Shelby White, Brody White, Farryn Young and Ashtyn Young; 1 great-grandchild, Cain Young; sister, Angie Truelove (Jeff); niece, Casey Minnich (Danny); great-nieces, Savannah and Piper; and a host of extended loving family members and friends.
A Celebration of Life was held Friday, July 11, 2025 at Atchley's Seymour Chapel with Pastor J.L. Steele officiating. A Graveside Service followed at Asbury Cemetery.
