James Phillip Evans

James Phillip Evans, age 69, of Smithville passed away Sunday morning, September 5, 2021 at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital ER in Smithville. He was a nurseryman.

 

He was born October 31, 1951 to his parents the late James Floyd and Edith Young Evans. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Michael "Odell" Evans, and Jerry Evans; sister-in-law, Brenda Robinson; brother-in-law, Staley Washer.

 

Mr. Evans is survived by his wife, Linda Evans of Smithville; son, Timothy Evans (Charlotte) of Rock Island; two grandchildren, Braylen and Addilyn; nephew, Jason (Sharon) Evans of Smithville; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jimmy Washer of Cookeville, Doyle (Marie) Washer of Smithville, Billy (Sharon) Washer of Smithville, Carolyn Chapman of Smithville, Kathy Henry of Smithville, Bobby Washer of Smithville, Ada (Jim) Qualls of McMinnville, Claudine (Darrell) Pedigo of McMinnville, Betty Jo (Robert) Lawson of Smithville; several nieces and nephews also survive.

 

Funeral service was held Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros. Michael Hale and Ricky Arnold officiating. Burial followed in the New Bildad Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers included Timothy Evans, Jason Evans, Coby Spicer, Vann Lawson, Darrell Pedigo, Joe Arnold, and Braylen Evans.

 

DeKalb Funeral Chapel, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements.
