Funeral service for James Robert Colwell, 65, of Smithville was held Oct. 27 at the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Bernard Houk officiated with burial following at Whorton Springs Cemetery.
Mr. Colwell passed away Oct. 25 at NHC Smithville. He was a truck driver for Denny Trucking, a former member of the Jaycee’s and affiliated with the Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his son William Allan Colwell; parents Clarence William Colwell and Dalie Bates Colwell; three sisters Johnnie Merriman, Vera Bell Davenport, Era Mai Summers; and two brothers Clarence William Colwell Jr. and Frank Edward Colwell.
Survivors include his wife Linda Colwell of Smithville; a son Andrew (Christi) Colwell of Smithville; two step-children Allen (Shawn) Crisp of Dowelltown and Rhonda (Neal) Potter of Baxter; two grandchildren Trent Nicoson and Alex Colwell, both of Smithville; four step-grandchildren Robert Crisp and Matt Colwell, both of Smithville, and Bradly and Paige Herriot, both of McMinnville; a sister Dorothy Young of Smithville; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers included Marty Merriman, Glynn Merriman, Roy Merriman, Allen Crisp, Matthew Colwell and Michael Hunter.
Love-Cantrell Funeral Home, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements.
