Funeral services for J.E. Garrett, 84, of Liberty, were held June 9 at the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Virgil Hibdon Jr. and Bro. Royce Martin officiated with burial following in Melton Cemetery.   
Mr. Garrett passed away June 5 at NHC Healthcare of Smithville. He was a farmer. 
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mary Garrett; his first wife, Exie Garrett; four brothers, Virgil, Thomas, Odell and Kenneth; and two sisters, Virdie Parrish and Clara Fulkerson.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Murphy Garrett of Liberty; four sons, Jon and Vicki Garrett, Russell and Judy Garrett, Danny and Diane Garrett and Jamie and Linda Garrett, all of Indiana; four step-sons, Glen and Louise Ferrell and Doug and Dawn Ferrell, all of Smithville, David Taylor of Liberty and Bengie and Stacy Taylor of McMinnville; a step-daughter, Joyce and Tom Mosley of Spencer; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; and two nieces.
Serving as pallbearers were Jamey, Jon, Jamey II and Russell Garrett, Glenn Ferrell, David and Ben Taylor and Mike Melton.
Love-Cantrell Funeral Home, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements.
