Jean Harney, age 79, of Smithville passed away Friday, August 31, 2018 at her home.

She was a retired school teacher and a member of the Jacobs Pillar Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mack Harney, Jr.; parents, C.H and Bernice Malone; and a sister and brother-in-law, Billie Ann and Johnny Frazier.

Survivors include two children, Mack and Sandy Harney of Smithville and Mary and Billy Hooper of Smithville; four grandchildren, John Harney of Smithville, Michael Hooper of Murfreesboro, Jessica Harney of Chattanooga, and Kate Hooper and Adam Rodrigues of Raleigh, North Carolina; one brother, Boyd Malone of Oak Ridge; two sisters, Peggy and husband Jeff Pearson of Travels Rest, South Carolina, and Judy Malone of Cookeville.

Funeral service was held Sunday, Sept. 2, 2018 at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Royce Martin and Chad Ramsey officiated with burial following in the Whorton Springs Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were John Harney, Michael Hooper, Adam Rodrigues, Doug Hooper, Alan Webb, Steve Barr and Bruno Frazier.

Love-Cantrell Funeral Home, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements.
